Leadership Institute was set up in March 2000 as a not-for-profit, non-governmental organisation to address the widening gap between leadership expectations and actual performance. Nigeria has been bedevilled by bad leaders whose incompetence and obvious lack of ethical standards has almost succeeded in turning the country into a failed state.
Governed by a distinguished Board of Trustees, it has so far been internally funded for its first 10 years of operations. We aim to foster the development of a new political class of ethical servant leaders who will execute populist policies with the fear of God. We hope to inspire a fresh generation of business owners and entrepreneurs who innovate with integrity in the marketplace.
Our programs are designed to identify, develop and empower both individuals and organisations to become exemplary leaders in every sphere of life, be it public, private or social. Our core program areas are management, education, information & communication technologies and the arts. We recognise that many organisations are unable to groom their own leaders effectively and have created initiatives to address this inadequacy through capacity-building. We also act as relationship-brokers in order to facilitate multi-stakeholder partnerships that strengthen all parties involved. We favour an open and proactive approach to programme planning that is aligned to well-defined strategies to ensure successful execution.
